"A leader is someone who is going someplace and can persuade others to go with him"
The leadership of the George West Church of Christ is currently composed of four men called Elders. Other Biblical titles are pastor, shepherd, and bishop. Three of these men were confirmed by the church in early 2005 and the fourth on June 25, 2006. Below you will find a bit of history about each of our Elders and the wife who supports his work.

Dale Burell -- has been one of our Shepherds since early 2005. Dale is married to the former Danette Harrod for thirty-two years. The Burells have a daughter, Andrea, who lives in Conroe. Dale has been employed by the Navy for the last thirty-two years. Danette is employed by the George West Independent School District as high school librarian. In being a Shepherd of this church, Dale brings with him a spirit of generosity and a tender heart with great empathy for those who struggle with life's problems. He is well versed in scripture and insists that the Word be followed strictly. He tempers his work as a Shepherd with grace and mercy while holding firm to his faith.
Keith Rogers -- Keith began serving as a Shepherd in early 2005. Keith received his education from Abilene Christian University and worked in education until retiring after forty years as an educator. Keith enjoys restoring houses and tractors. Keith is married to the former Sue Gilmore and the couple has two children, Heath and Keisha. They have three grandchildren who live in the state of Washington. Sue received her degree from Abilene Christian University and served as a teacher and counselor in education for many years, retiring at the end of the 2004 school year. Beside spoiling grandchildren Sue is engaged in the stained glass business Keith and Sue are vital parts of our church family. In serving as one of our Shepherds, Keith brings a unique blend of knowledge and excitement. Keith studies the Word diligently and gets excited when he sees his flock growing with the same kind of spirit he possesses. Keith serves as one of our song leaders and regularly teaches one of our classes.

Marshall Rogers began serving as a Shepherd in early 2005. Upon his graduation from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, he began a career in education that spanned thirty-three years. He retired in 1994 and does his best to wear out golf balls these days. He is a tremendous gardener and not a bad fisherman either. Marshall and his wife, Georgia, have been married for forty-three years and are parents of three children, Greg, Marsha, and Kirk. They are grandparents to four lovely little ones and enjoying traveling to spoil them as often as possible. Georgia received her degree from Sam Houston State and served as a county extension agent, serving in Bee County Texas for many years. She is now retired and pursues other interests. Georgia is very active in our Ladies' Ministry and is a wonderful cook. Georgia makes pralines and greeting cards. The Rogers live close to Mathis Lake. To our leadership Marshall brings a sincere commitment to our Lord and a desire for his flock to grow spiritually as well as numerically. He is wise in his decisions and the trust of his flock is evident in their following his lead carefully.

Keith Speed began serving as an Elder in the George West Church of Christ on June 25, 2006. Keith brings a deep knowledge of God's Word and tremendous wisdom to our present Eldership. He will help our current Elders as they endeavor to lead us in the paths of righteousness. Keith worked for many years as a maintenance supervisor for Shentech, retiring from Enron's safety and environmental department in 2000. Keith and Charlene have been married since April 29, 1989. The Speeds have eight children and ten grandchildren. Charlene served for many years as Comptroller for U. S. Contractors, a large construction company, that builds chemical plants. She is an accomplished artist having several of her paintings displayed in various homes across Texas. Our congregation welcomes Keith as an addition to our current Elders. Everyone is excited about the expertise Keith brings to this congregation's leadership.
